Very early in our journey together, we understood the importance of showing, not just telling. That’s why we proactively organised a special tour for Kakarra leaders to an operating lithium mine site, ensuring they could see the industry firsthand and gain a deeper understanding of operations.

We were fortunate to partner with Mineral Resources, a significant shareholder in GL1, who graciously hosted the visit at their Mount Marion lithium mine.

Their team showcased the operations and management practices, offering valuable insights into modern mining of a relatively new commodity for the State.

The experience was clearly impactful. As Kakarra Traditional Owner, Anita Hogan, shared, “It’s great to see a lithium mine in action.” This firsthand observation is invaluable.

This visit emphasised our commitment to transparency, fostering even greater trust and mutual understanding between our Kakarra community partners and the broader mining industry.
